Where Our Crews Work

Most weeks our crews are in Katy and Cinco Ranch, and we regularly schedule jobs in Fulshear, Brookshire, Pecan Grove, Weston Lakes, Rosenberg and Richmond. Toward the east we cover Mission Bend and Four Corners, and we reach Jersey Village as well.

Drive time is part of how we plan your day. A job in Brookshire or Weston Lakes sits farther from our usual routes, so we build that travel into the arrival window we give you instead of letting it eat into your morning. If an earlier job runs long, say because a subfloor needed more leveling than expected, we call you that day with a new time rather than letting the window pass in silence.

What Shapes a Flooring Job Around Here

  1. 01

    Slab foundations

Most homes across the area sit on concrete slabs, and concrete wicks moisture up from the soil. Before hardwood or laminate goes down, we take moisture readings on the slab and plan a vapor barrier or underlayment rated for concrete. The region's clay soils swell and shrink between wet and dry spells, which can leave dips, humps and hairline cracks. We check flatness with a long straightedge and grind or level the slab to the tolerance the flooring manufacturer calls for, because planks laid over a dip will flex at the click joints and eventually separate.

  2. 02

    Humidity and acclimation

Gulf Coast humidity moves wood a lot. Solid hardwood and some engineered products need to sit inside your home with the air conditioning running before installation, so their moisture content matches the room. That is why a hardwood job can have a gap of several days between delivery and install. We tell you about that gap when we schedule, so it is not a surprise.

  3. 03

    Typical housing age

Much of the metro was built from the 1980s onward, with a large share from the last twenty years. Many homes still have builder-grade carpet and sheet vinyl, and two-story plans often have carpeted stairs that people want matched to new floors downstairs, which our stair flooring work covers. Tearing out glued-down vinyl or old ceramic tile can add a day, and we account for it in the timeline we quote.

  4. 04

    After a leak or storm

Spring storms and the June through November hurricane season bring their share of water-damaged floors. A slab that took on water has to dry and read dry before new flooring goes over it. We will not shorten that drying time to hit a date, because trapped moisture causes cupping, adhesive failure and mold under the new floor.

  5. 05

    HOAs and permits

Many neighborhoods here are master-planned with HOA rules on work hours, trailer parking and where a dumpster can sit. Replacing floor coverings usually does not need a city building permit, though we check when a job involves more than the flooring. We ask about your HOA rules when we book, so our arrival time fits them.
